Stephan El Shaarawy says Zlatan Ibrahimovic inspired debut goal

Roma's new arrival Stephan El Shaarawy suggested he learned how to perform the back-heeled goal that he scored on Saturday from his former AC Milan teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

El Shaarawy completed a loan move to Roma this week after his loan at Monaco ended, and he seemed comfortable during his debut for Roma.

His acrobatical back-heeled volley put Roma ahead of Frosinone in the 48th minute, and the Giallorossi went on to win 3-1.

The move looked similar to some outrageous attempts by Ibrahimovic, and when asked by Sky Sport Italia if Ibrahimovic was the inspiration El Shaarawy admitted as much.

"I learned a few things in training," El Shaarawy said with a smile.

The Italy international said he already feels at home in Roma's set-up.

"My problem is that I tend to drift out of the game, but with a midfield like Roma's I can get more involved and be decisive. I want to get my fitness levels back now," he said.

"I'm working on my left foot, as in the past my teammates told me to vary it a bit rather than cut in from the left and shoot with the right. I'm working on it.

"My objective coming to Roma was to give a turning point to my career. The last few months at Monaco did not go well, I am here to get back on my feet and reach a crossroads.

"I think I'll get the chance to express myself in this team."

Roma manager Luciano Spalletti said he hopesĀ El Shaarawy's creativity spreads to his teammates.

"He is happy to be a part of this club and this family, so had the courage to try that moment of madness. Hopefully it'll catch on throughout the team," Spalletti said.
