Roma coach Rudi Garcia desperate to keep Radja Nainggolan

Roma coach Rudi Garcia has praised Radja Nainggolan and says he expects the Belgium international to remain at the club next season.

Nainggolan, 27, has been strongly linked with Manchester United in recent months and Liverpool are also reportedly keen to acquire the midfielder's services.

However, Roma are hoping to buy him outright this summer and are working on reaching an agreement with Cagliari, who part own his sporting rights.

"Nainggolan is a true force of nature,'' Garcia told French magazine France Football. "He's got an exceptional mentality and a winning character. He is a leader. I'm counting on him for next season.''

Nainggolan made 30 league starts for Roma and scored five goals to help the Giallorossi finish second in Serie A in the 2014-15 campaign and qualify for next season's Champions League.

He arrived in Italy in 2005 to play for Piacenza Calcio, then moved to Cagliari in 2010, scoring seven goals in 131 Serie A games for the Sardinian club before joining Roma on loan in January 2014.

Roma purchased 50 percent of Nainggolan's registration rights last summer for €6 million and the player is under contract with the Giallorossi until June 2018.
