Roma's Gervinho ruled out for 3 weeks; Francesco Totti injury doubt vs. Napoli

Roma forward Gervinho has been ruled out for three weeks after pulling his hamstring while on international duty.

Gervinho, 27, will miss the weekend clash with fellow Champions League pretenders Napoli.

The Ivory Coast winger could also miss games against Torino and Atalanta, but could return for the clash with Inter Milan at the San Siro on April 25.

The player underwent tests in Rome after returning from international duty on Tuesday.

"Medical tests carried out on Gervinho have revealed a Grade I hamstring strain," read a statement on the Serie A club's official website. "The forward, who will begin a recovery programme tomorrow, is expected to be out of action for around three weeks."

Roma may also be without Francesco Totti at the weekend for a vital game in the context of Champions League qualification. The Giallorossi captain has been unable to train for the past few days due to a flexor tendon injury.

Should Roma fail to beat Napoli on Saturday lunchtime, they could drop out of the top two for practically the first time all season with Lazio, who travel to Cagliari, only a point behind.

Rudi Garcia's men have won only two of their last 11 league games, drawing eight. They are 14 points behind league leaders Juventus and just six ahead of Napoli in fifth.
