Radamel Falcao targets golden boot after return to Monaco from Chelsea

Radamel Falcao wants to become the leading goal scorer in Ligue 1 next season following his return to Monaco after a disappointing loan spell with Chelsea.

Falcao, 30, has struggled for form since returning from a cruciate ligament injury he suffered in Jan. 2014, and managed only one goal and one start in the Premier League during an injury-hit year at Stamford Bridge.

And the Colombia striker had endured a similar barren run while on loan at Manchester United the season before.

But having been overlooked for this month's Copa America, Falcao is now keen to make his mark in France.

"I'm happy to have returned to Monaco," Falcao said. "I hope to have a big season. I'm 100 percent fit.

"I think it's important for me to be here. I feel good. People like me. I want to stay here this year, to return to the pitch and if it's possible to help the club reach its objectives.

"I would like to score a lot of goals, but the most important thing is to help the team. I'm a goal scorer. Everyone would like to be the top goal scorer and that's one of my objectives this season."

The ex-Porto and Atletico Madrid forward joined Monaco for an estimated €60 million in the summer of 2013.
