EFL backtracks on Arsenal Carabao Cup final kit, drops all-red demand

Arsenal will wear their normal red-and-white kit for Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Manchester City after the English Football League (EFL) backtracked on its decision to make them wear red shorts.

The EFL had initially said Arsenal would wear the same all-red kit they used at West Brom on New Year's Eve in order to avoid clashing with Manchester City's white shorts.

However, the organisation has changed its stance after a negative reactions from fans.

"After due consideration, it has been decided that Arsenal and Manchester City will both wear white shorts in Sunday's Carabao Cup Final," an EFL statement said.

"Arsenal were initially scheduled to wear red shorts, but it is the shared view of the EFL and the clubs that both teams should be able to wear their recognised first-team colours in such an occasion as a major domestic cup final so long as it doesn't cause problems for the match officials."

The West Brom game marked the first time in nearly 40 years that Arsenal had worn an all-red kit.
