Reiss Nelson will become 'a top player' for Arsenal - Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is convinced that teenager Reiss Nelson will be "a top player" for the club.

Nelson, 17, could be in line for his first Arsenal start in Wednesday's Carabao Cup third-round tie against Doncaster at the Emirates Stadium.

And Lacazette, who arrived from Lyon this summer, is among those who are expecting big things from the attacking midfielder.

"I think Reiss is very good," Lacazette told Arsenal's official website. "I believe he will be a top player for the club. He already impressed me during preseason and it's great to see what he's been doing for the under-23s."

England youth international Nelson came on as a substitute in the Community Shield win over Chelsea and the Europa League victory over Cologne last week but has yet to be part of Arsene Wenger's Premier League squads.

Many think it is just a matter of time before Nelson makes his breakthrough, though, especially after he was named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for August after netting five goals in three games with the U23s.

"His stats are very good and he's been performing well. When he's played with us, he's shown that he has real quality," Lacazette said.

As always, Wenger is expected to include a few youngsters in his Carabao Cup squad, with players such as midfielder Joe Willock and striker Eddie Nketiah possibly being involved as well.

Nketiah is widely seen as the best finisher in the Arsenal academy and has also impressed France international Lacazette.

"I really like Eddie as well," he said. "He's a great striker at the academy. He is very calm in front of goal and has great technique."
