Olivier Giroud: Arsenal players all want Arsene Wenger to remain as manager

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has said he hopes manager Arsene Wenger will stay on past the end of the season.

Wenger, who has managed the Gunners for the last 21 years, said last week he has made up his mind on his future plans, with an announcement to come "very soon."

The 67-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, and he is under increasing pressure with Arsenal's season on the brink of collapse after six defeats in the last nine matches in all competitions.

But Giroud said the Arsenal players are united in a desire for Wenger to return for the 2017-18 season.

"We want to see Arsene sign a new deal," Giroud said on InfoSport Plus in France. "We want him to continue this adventure because we all support him."

Wenger said this weekend that his future does not depend on qualifying for the Champions League next season, but Giroud hopes to take that out of the equation by securing a top-four finish.

"We hope to win the FA Cup this season and qualify for the Champions League again," he said.
