Arsenal's Lucas Perez to continue injury rehab at former club Deportivo

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez will continue his injury rehabilitation at his former Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna, and has criticised the tackle that damaged his ankle.

Perez is expected to be sidelined until the middle of December after being injured in the 2-0 EFL Cup win over Reading last month following a hard tackle from Danzell Gravenberch.

The forward, who joined Arsenal from Deportivo in a £17 million deal this summer, said on Twitter that Arsenal had agreed to let him return to Spain to recover.

Perez also told Spanish paper Marca that he didn't understand "where the player was going" with the tackle that injured him, but that he is confident of making a quick recovery.

He has only been used sparingly by Arsene Wenger since his arrival at the Emirates and was making just his third start against Reading. Still, Perez has two goals and four assists despite limited playing time.

"It's a shame that I hurt myself in a cup match, where the boss [Wenger] was relying on me," Perez told Marca. "But that is a risk you have in this sport. When I arrived at Deportivo I also got injured and had to fight. No one said the start would be easy."

Wenger was also annoyed with Gravenberch's tackle after the game, saying it was "a stupid one."

"It was a kick, a deliberate kick. It was not needed," Wenger said.
