Alisher Usmanov not planning to sell Arsenal stake despite Everton rumours

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov has underlined his commitment to the club amid speculation he was ready to sell his stake.

Usmanov holds a 30.04 percent stake in the club through Red and White Holdings but it had been rumoured that he was ready to sell up and join former partner Farhad Moshiri at Everton.

On Thursday, a spokesperson issued a statement, which read: "Contrary to some speculative media reports, Red and White Holdings would like to state that Mr Alisher Usmanov does not intend to sell his stake in Arsenal Holdings PLC ('Arsenal').

"Mr Usmanov continues to be committed to Arsenal and considers his stake in the Club as a long-term investment for his family and future generations."

Usmanov has been a shareholder at Arsenal since 2007 but American businessman "Silent" Stan Kroenke, who increased his stake to 67.05 percent in May, has been the majority shareholder since 2011.
