Arsenal confirm 2017 Australia tour dates vs. Sydney FC and Wanderers

SYDNEY -- Arsenal have confirmed they will play two matches in Australia next year, marking their first visit to the country in almost 40 years.

The Gunners will take on Sydney FC on July 13 in 2017 at ANZ Stadium, followed by a clash with Western Sydney Wanderers two days later at the same venue.

Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis said: "Our preseason matches enable the squad to complete final preparations ahead of a new campaign, and Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers will provide a strong test for the team.

"The trip also gives our travelling squad a wonderful opportunity to see our loyal supporters in a country so passionate about football.

"It's set to be a truly special trip and everyone at Arsenal football club is already looking forward to it."

New South Wales sports minister Stuart Ayres said the two matches were expected to attract more than 28,000 domestic and international visitors to the state, with a total visitor spend of 18.6 million Australian dollars (£9.68m).

"Tickets to the games ... will go on sale on 19 July, 2016, and I encourage all sports fans to come to Sydney," he said.
