Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil says he is in no rush to sign new deal

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has said he is in "no hurry" to sign a contract extension and can wait until the end of the season for talks with the club.

Both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have two years left on their deals, with Arsenal keen to secure their long-term futures in the summer.

But Ozil, who remains two assists shy of the Premier League's single-season record, said in an interview with German news agency Sport-Informations-Dienst: "There is no hurry.

"I have two years left on my contract. We'll see how it goes at the end of the season."

The fourth-placed Gunners could yet miss out on the Champions League next season with Manchester United, in fifth, still able to overtake them.

Ozil has been their best player this season and set a Premier League record for chances created by reaching 137 in the 0-0 draw at Sunderland on Sunday.

The 27-year-old World Cup winner said his 18 assists this term -- two short of the Premier League record -- had made it a special season for him.

But he added: "This season it was possible to become champions," he said. "But we dropped too many points against smaller teams."
