Arsene Wenger has backed Joel Campbell and Calum Chambers to show their quality as he prepares to give his fringe players a chance in the Capital One Cup fourth-round clash at Sheffield Wednesday.
Arsenal have not won the competition since beating Wednesday in the League Cup final in 1993, and Wenger has regularly used it as a means of giving players game time.
However, they reached the final in both 2007 and 2011 and Wenger has urged his squad players to prove their quality by keeping the club on course for silverware with victory at Hillsborough on Tuesday.
"We want the players who come in to the team to show they are able to make the squad successful, and do absolutely everything to help us win," he said.
"That's the job of a footballer. When you get the chance, you have to be ready."
Wenger said backup keeper David Ospina remains unavailable, so Petr Cech will remain in goal.
Arsenal will also be without Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky, but Per Mertesacker is available again after illness.
He confirmed that Costa Rica forward Campbell, who has had limited first-team opportunities at Arsenal, would be given the chance to show his worth.
"I like Joel Campbell very much for two reasons," Wenger said. "One is that he has outstanding individual quality, but he is also a team player. He works very hard for the team.
"I'm convinced he will get a chance here and that he will take it. He has another opportunity against Sheffield Wednesday and I'm hopeful that he will show that he has the quality to play for Arsenal.
"When you get the chance, you have to be ready. To be ready, you have to prepare. I must say that Joel Campbell and Calum Chambers are two players who do absolutely everything right.
"They are prepared, the preparation they have created will give them the confidence against Sheffield Wednesday and I'm confident they will play well."
He also praised Chambers for his versatility and backed the 20-year-old to add to his three senior caps for England.
"Calum can play in midfield, he can play central defender," he said. "I think in the future he will certainly be a central defender, but he can also play right back.
"That versatility will help him in the future because he will tactically know more about the game, he will be technically better prepared and physically he will be at the top, top level. I'm confident that Calum will be a successful England player."
