Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil hailed by Per Mertesacker

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker believes the form of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil is key to the club's chances of success this season.

Both Sanchez and Ozil produced impressive displays in the Gunners' 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, with the former hitting a brace and the latter scoring another while also bagging an assist.

Mertesacker was impressed with the duo's link-up play at Emirates Stadium and is hopeful they can continue to keep turning in such performances.

"It's very important that they find each other in the final third," he told Arsenal's official website. "You could see the little pass from Theo Walcott to Mesut Ozil, how important that was, just a tiny little ball, and on the break we are very dangerous, and even more so with Sanchez and Ozil."

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech was also enthused by Sanchez's display on Sunday, and feels the Chile international is now back to his best following a slow start to the campaign brought about by his involvement in the summer's Copa America.

"It's always hard for the players when you have the Copa America," Cech told Arsenal's official website. "He won it, he was there for a really long time, didn't have much break and then came back and needed to start again.

"You could see that everybody from the Copa America had a slow start, in other teams and competitions as well. We're pleased that he's back with his energy, with his enthusiasm and you can see that he feels confident and with performances like that, it's great for the team."
