Petr Cech targets Premier League title with Arsenal after Chelsea exit

Petr Cech said he is aiming to help Arsenal end their long wait for the Premier League title and "challenge the best in Europe" after completing his move from Chelsea.

Cech, 33, finally sealed his switch to the Emirates Stadium on Monday, ending an 11-year spell with Chelsea in which he won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, Europa League, four FA Cups and three League Cups.

Arsenal, meanwhile, won three FA Cups during that time, and last secured the Premier League title in the season before Cech's arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The Czech Republic goalkeeper told his new club's official website that he will look to use his experience to help the Gunners become champions of England again.

"I have a lot of personal motivation and ambition and the club definitely matches it," he said. "It is an exciting time for me -- it is a project where Arsenal fans and the club have been waiting for the Premier League title and this is a chance for me to bring my experience and my little extra to the team and we can possibly achieve that."

He added: "I believe that the Premier League is the best league in the world and, having played in the Premier League for such a long time, it is to my advantage and I know what to expect.

"This year I will be at a different club but I think it can be a big advantage for me that I'm settled, I know what to expect in almost every ground in England with the style that is played. It is a great challenge to be playing against the best players in the world and I always wanted to play in the Premier League and be a part of this league.

"To have an opportunity to continue in a team that has the motivation to challenge for the title and challenge the best teams was a challenge for me and I have to say that once I spoke to Arsene Wenger about the ambitions and motivations this club has, my decision was clear because I wanted to be a part of it."

He said he is "as hungry as ever" and is optimistic Arsenal can also compete in the Champions League.

"I believe I will find a team that wants to be successful and wants to challenge the best in Europe," he said. "It is an exciting project for me."
