Wellington Silva in talks over new Arsenal contract - sources

Arsenal are in advanced talks with Wellington Silva over a new deal at Emirates Stadium, sources have told ESPN FC.

Wellington has yet to make his debut for Arsenal since joining the club from Fluminese in 2011.

The 22-year-old has been forced to spend loan spells away from the Gunners after not being not granted a work permit.

The winger has had five loans with stints at Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Murica and Almeria.

However, Wellington was given the green light to begin his Arsenal career after being granted a work permit in April having been given Spanish citizenship.

The South American is highly rated by Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal boss is keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal now he is finally able to play in England.

Wellington has just a year to run on his current contract and Arsenal are hopeful of securing the attacker on a new deal this summer.

Wenger will make a decision on whether or not to keep Wellington in his first-team plans for next season during preseason -- he could opt to loan out the Brazilian to an English club so that he can play regularly and adapt to football in the country next term.
