Aaron Ramsey says second-placed finish would be progress for Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey believes his side have improved on last season, even though they look set to finish several points behind Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal's 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Sunday appeared to end the Gunners' faint hopes of catch Jose Mourinho's team, yet Ramsey argued progress is being made under Arsene Wenger.

"Finishing second probably is progression from last season definitely and from a couple of seasons where we have been battling for fourth," he told Arsenal's official website. "We're in another FA Cup final so maybe you can say that's an improvement on last season."

The game at Emirates Stadium came to a close with Arsenal fans chanting "boring, boring Chelsea" in the direction of Mourinho side, who could wrap up the title against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Ramsey accepted that Chelsea's conservative tactics were legitimate, saying Mourinho's approach has made it tough for all their rivals to rival the Blues this season.

"They were very well organised and were happy with the point in the end," Ramsey added. "They've done really well in the bigger games where they've kept their shape and frustrated teams like they did to us.

"They've only lost twice this season, so their consistency has been the best and that's what you need. They've definitely been the best team in the league."

Meanwhile, Arsenal fan and TV presenter Piers Morgan claimed on Twitter that Ramsey refused to shake his hand following the game against Chelsea on Sunday.

Morgan was an outspoken critic of Ramsey when he suffered a slump in form two years ago.
