Thierry Henry 'not ready' to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager

Thierry Henry has told Canal+ it is "a load of rubbish" to suggest he is ready to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager.

Wenger, 65, signed a three-year contract extension with the Gunners last year, taking him through to 2017 with the club he has been in charge of since 1996.

There have, however, been reports the former Monaco boss could leave Arsenal before the end of his contract, leaving vacant one of the most attractive jobs in football.

Henry, 37, has made little secret of his ambition to take charge of a team following the end of his playing career last December.

Though he has been involved in coaching some of Arsenal's youth teams, Henry brushed off the suggestion he could already be in line to step into Wenger's shoes.

"That's a load of rubbish. I have become an Arsenal supporter, I really love Arsenal," said Henry, who became the Premier League club's all-time leading scorer during a hugely successful eight-year spell with the Gunners.

"People say to me, 'Thierry, don't tell me you wouldn't love to.' That would be lying. Yes, I would really like that, but I'm not ready. Let's just calm down."
