Arsenal have invited me to join coaches, says 'Invincible' Gilberto Silva

Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has said the north Londoners have invited him to work with their coaching staff.

Gilberto, a member of the "Invincibles" team that won the 2003-04 Premier League title without losing a match, told Globo Esporte he might return to the club -- but only after continuing his playing career.

The 38-year-old, who is currently without a club, said: "I have had an invitation, yes.

"Anything is possible. It makes me happy when you have these invitations, and it makes me want to learn from others, seek knowledge and develop my own style.

"I spent six years at Arsenal, which was a great place to learn. I have it as a reference point and a football model."

World Cup-winner Gilberto, who is recovering from a knee injury, said he was currently looking for another club.

He added: "I've had some offers to play again. My rehabilitation is in the final stretch, and I'm open to discussions."
