Arsene Wenger concerned as Chelsea increase gap over Arsenal

LONDON -- Arsene Wenger admitted he is worried that Arsenal are now 11 points behind Chelsea in the Premier League after his team could only draw 2-2 with Hull City thanks to an injury-time equaliser from Danny Welbeck.

Chelsea won 2-1 at Crystal Palace and Arsenal are back in sixth after a match in which they dominated possession but struggled against a well-organised Hull team.

"I cannot say it is not a concern because the other team win their games and we don't," Wenger said. "We had 80 percent possession and we got a point. It is a very disappointing result. We absolutely could have won this game."

Though he was angry with referee Roger East for allowing Mo Diame to equalise after a clash with Mathieu Flamini and level Alexis Sanchez's opener, Wenger laid the blame squarely at his defence for Abel Hernandez's goal 32 seconds into the second half.

I cannot fault the effort and the heart but the defensive concentration was missing. You cannot afford to give away goals like that.

"The performance was better than the result indicates and in the last five minutes we created three or four clear-cut chances. It's difficult against teams who are physically strong. They were well organised -- it was 10 against 10 in the second half."

When Jack Wilshere left the field with what looked a twisted knee, there were worries over a serious injury, but Wenger allayed fears, saying: "Jack is well

Asked if he might be able to play against Anderlecht in next week's Champions League match, he replied: "If selected, yes."
