Jack Wilshere trains with Arsenal as injury fears allayed

Arsenal have been handed a boost ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Galatasaray as Jack Wilshere took part in training on Tuesday.

Wilshere went over on his ankle during Saturday's 1-1 draw in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur and was substituted for Alexis Sanchez on 63 minutes, raising fears that he could be set for another spell on the sidelines after a series of similar problems have blighted his career in recent seasons.

However, the initials signs were that Wilshere's fitness would not be an issue for the home meeting against Galatasaray in Group D or the vital Premier League match against Chelsea on Sunday after he appeared on the training pitches at his club's London Colney training base.

Arsenal confirmed on Monday that midfielder Aaron Ramsey faces a month or more on the sidelines with a hamstring injury sustained in the Tottenham match.

Club captain Mikel Arteta -- who, along with striker Olivier Giroud, is reported to be close to signing a new contract -- was also an early withdrawal in that match and is expected to miss the Galatasaray and Chelsea games.

The imminent return of Theo Walcott could boost Arsenal's attacking options, although the most recent reports suggested the England winger is not expected to be available until after the upcoming international break.
