Arsenal need to be more dangerous from set-pieces says Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has conceded he is frustrated by his side's poor record of scoring goals from set-pieces.

Wenger's Gunners have often been caught short defending against well worked corners and free-kicks from their opponents in recent years, but the veteran French tactician's focus appears to be on the conversion rate at the other end of the pitch.

"It's a concern," Wenger told reporters. "We have lots of room for improvement and we need to do that quickly.

"If you go anywhere in the world and have 15 corners against you, you will concede because they should be so difficult to defend, but we are not doing that."

Wenger is facing an anxious wait to see how Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey respond to treatment after they were injured in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Tottenham, with Wenger admitted skipper Arteta and play-maker Ramsey are likely to miss both Wednesday's Champions League clash with Galatasaray and next Sunday's trip to Chelsea.

With a midfield crisis threatening to derail his hopes ahead of two big games, Wenger conceded he would be tempted to play summer signing Calum Chambers in a more advanced role if it were not for a shortage of numbers in his defensive set-up.

"He has been remarkable in every position," said Wenger of a teenager who has impressed in central defensive and full-back roles for Arsenal this season. "He has an unbelievable engine. He goes and goes. It's not often that you see that quality.

"I'd consider playing him in midfield but I don't know about Wednesday [against Galatasaray] because I only have four defenders at the moment.

"I don't know what I'll do yet. Give me a bit of time, but Flamini is the only option I see at the moment."
