Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni out of hospital after cycling accident in Mallorca

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni was treated and released from Son Espases hospital in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, on Tuesday after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle there.

His condition was described as not serious by hospital sources and the Argentina Federation. The federation confirmed via their Twitter account that he was released and sent home.

Posting an update on his Twitter account, Scaloni wrote: "Many thanks for all the messages I've received, just a few stitches and home! Thanks to everyone."

Scaloni, who played football in Mallorca and maintains a home there, was riding his bicycle in Portals Nous, in the municipality of Calvia.

Calvia's town hall spokesperson told ESPN FC: "At 10 am local time this morning a man, confirmed as Lionel Scaloni, was cycling on the sidewalk when a car that had been parked began to reverse and hit him. The driver of the car called the emergency number and a local police car and an ambulance arrived at the scene.

"Scaloni was taken to Hospital Universitari Son Espases. The driver of the car had an alcohol test done that came out negative. There is no bicycle lane on that path where Scaloni was cycling."

Argentina Federation president Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia confirmed via Twitter that Scaloni's condition was not serious.

"A few minutes ago I spoke to Lionel Scaloni and he is fine, he had an accident in Mallorca and thank God, he has been given the all clear."
