Angel Di Maria's injury not as bad as first thought, Argentina says

Argentina have announced that Angel Di Maria's adductor injury is not as bad as first thought, and the forward could still play a part in the Copa America.

Di Maria suffered the injury to his right leg on Friday against Panama, pulling up just before half-time of their second group-stage game.

But in a statement on Saturday night, the Argentina FA said he only had "minimal swelling" around the injury.

Though no timeline for the Paris Saint-Germain star's return was given, Argentina said he would begin recovery work immediately, giving hope he could play at some point in the knockout stage.

Di Maria scored against Chile in a 2-1 win in Argentina's opener, but he ultimately wasn't needed against Panama as Lionel Messi came off the bench to score a hat trick in a 5-0 win.
