Lionel Messi still not taking part in full training with Argentina

Lionel Messi continued to train apart from the rest of the Argentina squad on Tuesday as he fights to return from a back injury and play in the Copa America.

The Barcelona star, who was hurt in a friendly late last month, missed the Albiceleste's 2-1 win in the opener against Chile on Monday night.

Argentina manager Gerardo Martino said after the game that Messi would be fit to play against Panama on Friday, but he was still limited to light solo work as training began on Tuesday.

Midfielder Lucas Biglia, who also missed the Chile game, joined Messi in the side-session as he battles a muscle tear.

Messi only watched as Argentina's reserves lost 1-0 in a 40-minute scrimmage against the Burlingame Dragons, the development team of the San Jose Earthquakes.

Argentina trained for the last time in San Jose, California, on Tuesday before traveling to Chicago.
