Former Liverpool player Sebastian Leto to undergo surgery for skull fracture

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- Argentine footballer Sebastian Leto was in a Buenos Aires hospital on Thursday after he was struck on the head by weightlifting equipment while training.

Leto's Argentine club, Lanus, said he was expected to undergo surgery for a skull fracture.

Hospital Mitre described his condition as "good with stable life signs."

Club officials said the accident happened on Tuesday. The team's medical staff said they expected him to sidelined forup to four months.

Leto arrived on loan from Italian side Catania only last week.

He has played for Liverpool, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.
