Algeria beckons as Anelka prepares to join the 13th club of his career

Former Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City striker Nicolas Anelka is close to joining the 13th club of his career, NAHD of Algeria if he is not deemed too old.

The French striker who began his career in 1996 with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain has been traveling the world and turning out for some of the top clubs in Europe while also donning the jersey of Asian clubs like Shanghai Shenhua and most recently Mumbai City in the Indian Super League.

With 157 career goals in club football, the 35-year-old forward is set to continue his globetrotting when he puts pen to paper on a deal with Algerian club side Nasr Athlétique d'Hussein-Dey (NAHD) but is waiting for special dispensation from the Algerian football federation (FAF) on whether he is fit enough for the league.

As reported by New Straits Times, NAHD president Mahfoud Ouled Zmrili told AFP: "Anelka is waiting for a concession from the FAF to sign his contract as they expect internationals to be under 29 years old when they sign.

"Anelka hasn't discussed money -- he just wants to play for an Algerian club."

NAHD want to sign him on a 18-month deal and, if goes through, this will be Anelka's first foray into African football.
