Borussia Dortmund's improved, but still vulnerable

The early fixtures in the Champions League can be a fascinating mix of straightforward demolitions from favoured teams against overmatched opponents to more considered affairs in which teams that are likely to progress in the competition face each other and gain a chance to spar. Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid gave us an early example of the latter, and was an opportunity to get a handle on how good Dortmund might be after a one-season absence from the Champions League.
