Ajax side against Man United youngest ever in a major European final

Ajax's starting XI to face Manchester United in the Europa League final was the youngest ever to be named for a major European final.

Ajax coach Peter Bosz selected a side with an average age of 22 years and 282 days to face United in Stockholm on Wednesday.

Bosz's selection included defender Matthijs de Ligt, who, at the age of 17 years and 285 days, became the youngest-ever player to play in a major European final.

United striker Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, becomes the youngest Englishman to start in a major European final since Gary Mills for Nottingham Forest in 1980, at the age of 19 years and 205 days.

United went on to win the game 2-0.
