Cameroon, Ivory Coast held again in all-equal Group D

Ibrahima Traore scored an equaliser late in the first half to give Guinea a 1-1 draw with Cameroon at the African Nations Cup on Saturday.

Benjamin Moukandjo gave Cameroon the lead in the 13th minute direct from a corner kick.

Traore scored in the 42nd minute, collecting a pass in the area and then turning and shooting past Cameroon goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa.

Ibrahima Conte was denied a last minute penalty after bursting clear into the left side of the box, where he fell under a challenge by Jerome Guihoata, but referee Tessema Bamlak took no action.

Moments earlier, Stephane M'Bia should have won it for Cameroon when he was served up a free header from Benjamin Moukandjo's free kick but flashed it inches wide from eight yards.

Tactical changes again helped Ivory Coast avoid defeat, this time in a 1-1 draw with Mali on Saturday.

First-half substitute Max Gradel scored in the 87th minute to rescue the Ivorians and give the tournament favourites two points in Group D, the same as the rest of the group.

The Malians took an early lead when Bakary Sako blasted in a cross from Sambou Yatabare in the seventh minute at Malabo Stadium.

But as time was winding down, Renard made his final two changes -- and it worked again.

Because every match in Group D has been 1-1, there is a possibility that advancement could come down to the drawing of lots.
