Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was unable to inspire Gabon to a first win of the African Nations Cup as the hosts drew 1-1 with Burkina Faso in Group A.

The Borussia Dortmund striker converted a first-half penalty, cancelling out Prejuce Nakoulma's opener at Stade de l'Amitie, as Gabon had to settle for a second successive draw.

Their further participation in the tournament now depends on Sunday's final group game against Cameroon, when even victory may not be enough.

Burkina Faso have now drawn nine...

Jurgen Klopp feels his Liverpool side deserved a better result, but is still proud of the attitude he saw from his players.

Liverpool will not risk playing Joel Matip in Wednesday's FA Cup third-round replay at Plymouth while uncertainty over his eligibility remains, a source has told ESPN FC.

Matip was one of seven Cameroon...

Ayew, a West Ham winger, netted in the 32nd minute after Asamoah Gyan was held back by Isaac Isinde in the penalty area in Port-Gentil.

Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant is looking to lead Ghana to a second successive final but go better than 2015, when his team lost to Ivory Coast.

Uganda has also finished as runners-up in the...

Egypt and Mali played out a goalless draw in their African Nations Cup Group D opener at Port Gentil.

Mali had gone close to breaking the deadlock on 13 minutes.

Moussa Marega sent a deep ball into the penalty area from the left, which Bastia midfielder Lassana Coulibaly tried to glance into the far corner, but Egypt goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy turned it behind at full stretch.

However, the Zamalek stopper soon picked up an injury and was eventually forced off in the 24th minute, which saw veteran...
