Al Nasr forfeit first leg of Asian Champions League qualifier

The Asian Football Confederation has ruled that Al Nasr of the United Arab Emirates has forfeited the first leg of their Asian Champions League quarterfinal against El Jaish of Qatar due to fielding an ineligible player.

The AFC ruled Monday that Brazilian-born and Indonesian-nationalised forward Wanderley was ineligible as his Indonesian passport was a forgery.

Wanderley had scored two goals in Al Nasr's 3-0 win, but the forfeit means that result had been annulled with El Jaish awarded a 3-0 win; the standard result in the case of a forfeit.

The second leg will be played in Dubai on Wednesday.

The development follows the AFC investigating players using fake passports to comply with eligibility rules in international and club competitions.

Wanderley was suspended for 60 days "pending a full investigation into his nationality status."
