Shandong Luneng midfielder Jin Jingdao has been provisionally suspended by the Asian Football Confederation for 60 days, the regional body announced on Friday, after testing positive for a banned substance during the club's recent Asian Champions League meeting with FC Seoul.
The AFC said in a statement that the 24-year-old would be banned from all football related activity following the positive test for Clenbuterol following his side's 3-1 loss against the South Korean club on Aug. 23.
"Jin tested positive for clenbuterol before the match against FC Seoul on August 23, 2016," the statement said. "Clenbuterol is a banned substance on the World Anti-Doping Agency 2016 Prohibited List.
"Jin is now banned from taking part in any football-related activity for 60 days. This period can be further extended by 30 days. Jin has a right to request testing of his "B" sample in accordance with the AFC Anti-Doping Regulations. Following the completion of the investigation, the matter will be decided by the AFC Disciplinary Committee."
Shandong, who are coached by Germany's Felix Magath, are due to meet FC Seoul in the second leg of the continental club championship quarterfinals next week and Jin's ban will rule him out of that game and the majority of the remainder of the Chinese Super League season.
