Melbourne Victory looking to subdue Shanghai SIPG's Oscar, Hulk, Elkeson

Rhys Williams 54th minute equaliser secured a point for Melbourne Victory in the AFC Champions League group stage against Ulsan.

They're playing one of Asia's best teams in their backyard but Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat pledged to have a go at Shanghai SIPG in their AFC Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, Muscat's out-of-form Victory will confront Brazilian trio Oscar, Hulk and Elkeson as well as some top Chinese talent in their second ACL match in a week.

They began with a closely fought 3-3 draw with Korea's Ulsan Hyundai last Tuesday at AAMI Park.

Suwon Bluewings handed Sydney an ACL 'wake-up call' - Graham Arnold

Suwon Bluewings' Dejan Damjanovic struck twice to give Sydney FC the worst possible Champions League start.
Sydney FC brought Melbourne City's undefeated run to an end with a whopping 4-0 win at AAMI park.

It was the wake-up call Graham Arnold said Sydney FC needed, with an opening AFC Champions League loss leaving the A-League champions everything to do in China next week.

The Sky Blues were outscored and ultimately outplayed in Wednesday night's opening 2-0 loss to Suwon Bluewings.

With Suwon still in their K-League...

Fabio Cannavaro endured a frustrating return to the head coach's role at Guangzhou Evergrande on Wednesday evening as the two-time champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Thailand's Buriram United in the Asian Champions League.

Cannavaro's side had two strong penalty claims and a goal disallowed in the opening 15 minutes before Ricardo Goulart put Guangzhou in front against the Thai champions.

But, rather than being the launch pad for a commanding victory, Guangzhou were pegged back by an Edgar Silva...

For all the talk of Sydney FC being a shot at lifting the Asian Champions League trophy, they will have to do better than their 2-0 humbling by Suwon Bluewings.

In the Sky Blues' first continental litmus test over their one-and-a-half seasons of A-League dominance, the reigning champions suffered a first home defeat in almost two years.

They were silenced by a South Korean team still in preseason, thanks to a wonder strike and penalty from former Montenegro international Dejan Damjanovic.
