Bournemouth sell stake to Minnesota Wild co-owner Matt Hulsizer's PEAK6

Bournemouth have announced that U.S.-based investors PEAK6 -- led by co-owner and CEO Matt Hulsizer, who owns a stake in National Hockey League (NHL) team Minnesota Wild -- have bought a 25 percent stake in the club.

The Premier League club confirmed the sale on Monday afternoon, with Chicago-based investment firm PEAK6 taking a share in the club after 15 months of talks.

A club statement read: "Bournemouth are delighted to announce completion of a transaction with Chicago-based PEAK6 Investments, L.P., which has resulted in PEAK6 investing in the club and acquiring a 25 per cent share interest.

"PEAK6's co-founder and CEO, Matt Hulsizer, leads the investment for PEAK6.

"Having established a relationship with Mr Hulsizer over the past 15 months, Bournemouth owner Maxim Demin believes the partnership will further enable the club to deliver long-term success, providing strategic insight and international presence and helping secure the football club's future at the highest level.

"Mr Hulsizer... also has involvement in the US sports industry, most notably through his ownership interest in the Minnesota Wild of the NHL."

The Dorset club made headlines last season as they won promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, having narrowly avoided relegation from the Football League in 2009.

Bournemouth's 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle on Saturday leaves them 18th in the table, with eight points from 12 games.

The Cherries have recently been linked with Charlie Austin amid reports of potential investment from PEAK6, as club manager Howe struggles with a number of injuries to key players.

Hulsizer said: "I am excited and honoured to partner with Maxim and Bournemouth. I was introduced to the club over two seasons ago and since then I have followed the club's progress and seen the tremendous accomplishments in that time.

"With Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall managing the team, I am confident that we can establish ourselves in the top flight."

Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn announced his delight at the deal having held regular meeting with Hulsizer and his and his colleague Jay Coppoletta over the past two years.

"The club is confident this partnership will further strengthen its ability to compete with the very best, and provide a platform to establish itself as a long-term Premier League club," Mostyn said.

"With PEAK6 taking a stake in the club, it is a pleasure to also announce that both Mr Hulsizer and Mr Coppoletta will also join the board of directors."
