AC Milan links are 'fake news' - Arsene Wenger

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports linking him with AC Milan as "fake news."

France Football reported that Wenger has been in talks with Milan about replacing Gennaro Gattuso as coach, but Wenger denied that during his role as a pundit on beIN Sports.

"The only thing I can say is, it's fake news," Wenger said. "If I would sign somewhere I would tell you. It's wrong news."

Wenger has been out of football since stepping down as Arsenal manager in May following a 22-year stint at the club, but said last month that he expects to have a new job by January.

However, he insisted he doesn't know where he will go next.

Gattuso has come under pressure despite Milan sitting fourth in the Serie A table after 11 games, 10 points behind leaders Juventus.

Milan's new owners, Elliot Management Fund directors Paul and Gordon Singer, are said to be big admirers of Wenger and have already hired Arsenal's former chief executive Ivan Gazidis to run the club.

Wenger, who has also been linked with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, tried to put an end to the speculation.

"I can only master what I do in my life," he said. "I'm at the moment only focused on doing well for beIN Sports, and that's not easy!"
