Vincenzo Montella not worried about his job at AC Milan after draw

AC Milan manager Vincenzo Montella says he has the "club's trust" and does not expect to lose his job after the season.

Gerard Deulofeu's late goal secured a 1-1 draw at Atalanta on Saturday, though Milan are still yet to win in the five games since the new Chinese ownership officially took over the club on April 13.

But Montella insisted his job is not in jeopardy as he looks to improve his squad in the summer transfer window.

"I feel the club's trust and there is a very important technical and economic project here," Montella told Premium Sport. "I am in agreement with the club that this team needs some improvement. It can definitely be improved with quality elements.

"But the team must think only in the present and I will be the coach next year. I am proud and happy to coach a team of this stature.

"For my part, there is no problem. I see a team that is following me."

The draw took Milan a point clear of Fiorentina in sixth place as they battle for the final Europa League spot, and Montella said he was satisfied with his team's performance.

"It was a hard-fought game. Atalanta are playing with confidence," he said. "But Milan played with heart and soul and managed to equalise.

"I liked the attitude. I am proud of this draw. It is a valuable point against a team that deserves to be where they are."
