AC Milan should not keep forward Carlos Bacca - Alessandro Costacurta

Alessandro Costacurta believes AC Milan are wrong to build their future around Carlos Bacca, saying that the Colombia international is simply not up to scratch.

The former Rossoneri defender gave a frank assessment of the former Sevilla forward after his two goals helped Milan to a 3-1 win over Chievo at the weekend.

Bacca has had an inconsistent season and while he has scored 11 goals in 23 games, Costacurta has not been impressed with the 30-year-old, who turned down lucrative offers from China to commit his future to Milan this winter.

"Bacca's a good forward, but if [Cagliari's Marco] Borriello had scored four penalties, he would now have 16 goals," Costacurta told Sky Sport Italia. "We're talking about an average forward who, in some games, is completely invisible and in others is fortunate enough to do what he did on Saturday.

"He's not an attacker for the present and even less so one for the future."

Bacca's contract with Milan runs until 2020, although the Rossoneri have already shown they will not stand in his way if he wishes to leave, having let him consider two offers from China during the winter transfer window.
