Manuel Locatelli on scoring winner vs. Juventus: 'I honestly do not believe it'

AC Milan teenager Manuel Locatelli admitted his wonder-goal which beat Serie A leaders Juventus 1-0 at the San Siro will take some time to sink in.

The Rossoneri had lost their last nine matches against Juventus, including last season's Coppa Italia final.

However, a rocket from 18-year-old midfielder Locatelli on 65 minutes proved enough to secure a first win over the Bianconeri since November 2012.

It was only a second start of the season for Locatelli, as manager Vincenzo Montella again opted to give youth a chance.

"I honestly do not believe it yet. Surely I will be crying when I see my parents," Locatelli said. "I look forward to reviewing the goal.

"Scoring against [Gianluigi] Buffon is something beautiful. I still haven't quite realised what I've done."

Italy national team boss Giampiero Ventura was reportedly watching from the stands. Locatelli, though, is determined to keep himself ground.

"With regards the national team, I am not thinking about that right now, only for playing with the under-19s," he said.

Milan move up into second place, two points behind Juve and three ahead of Roma, who host Palermo on Sunday night.

Montella said the victory over the Serie A leaders could usher in a new era at Milan.

"You cannot think of beating Juve without suffering at least a little bit. I really liked the courage and confidence my team showed in spells, but not all the way through, and we must build on this," Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

"I told the lads a new season begins now, because after this the opposition and everyone else will have different expectations of us. They will approach us a different way and the pressure on us will also be different.

"To be honest, tonight I really was emotional. After the final whistle I saw the lads rush to celebrate under the Curva and I had memories flooding back of my adolescence, when I was a Milan supporter and dreamed of playing here.

"I want to thank Adriano Galliani, as he is supporting his coach throughout thick and thin, so with Milan going through rather a difficult transfer session, I am happy for him."
