AC Milan coach Montella wants 'world-class' Carlos Bacca to stay

AC Milan coach Vincenzo Montella has expressed his hope that Carlos Bacca will remain with the Serie A club this season, despite not having European football.

Bacca, 29, is reported to have turned down a move to West Ham United since the Premier League club are not in the Champions League next season, though they could offer him a return to the Europa League, which he won twice with Sevilla.

However, Montella says losing the Colombian -- who scored 18 goals last season in his first year in Serie A -- would be a major blow to Milan.

"He's a world-class player and it's hard to go without a player who guarantees you the goals that he does," Montella said in quotes reported by Il Corriere dello Sport.

"The club are analysing what to do with the lad because he has the aspiration to play in the Champions League."
