AC Milan boss Cristian Brocchi content with draw against Frosinone

AC Milan coach Cristian Brocchi declared himself satisfied with his side's performance in theĀ 3-3 draw against Frosinone, despite the result jeopardising their hopes of qualifying for Europe next season.

Milan came from two goals behind to snatch a draw at the San Siro, but Sassuolo's 1-0 win over Hellas Verona saw them drop to seventh in the Serie A standings. Should they end the season in that position, failure to beat Juventus in the Coppa Italia final would see them miss out on a place in the Europa League next term.

Brocchi, however, still saw more positives than negatives in Milan's draw at home to a team whose relegation to Serie B could be sealed when they host Sassuolo next weekend.

"Unlike in other games, we created a lot of chances and we tried to play football today, grinding out dangerous goal-scoring opportunities," Brocchi said at his postmatch news conference. "We hit the crossbar twice, missed a penalty and reacted like a side who are not fragile.

"I know we shouldn't be conceding three goals at home, but we need to analyse with a clear mind how we conceded them. This was a step forwards for us today in terms of the quality of football we played.

"Of course we can't be happy with the point, but I needed to see some signs from the team and if we ignore the result and only look at the football we expressed, then you can't say we didn't play better than in recent matches. It seems blatant to me that we did something well today. I need to look at the positives today and I hope you have also seen them."

Milan head to Bologna next weekend before concluding their season at home to Roma on May 15. Sassuolo, meanwhile, go into their final two games at Frosinone and at home to Inter Milan with a one-point advantage over the Rossoneri.

"There's no doubt that sixth place is our objective and this draw complicates matters for us," Brocchi said. "I just hope we can play the same way against Bologna and even do that little bit more. If my lads have the same attitude they had all week and today, then I'm confident for both Bologna and Roma."
