Sinisa Mihajlovic: AC Milan's missed chances make it 'difficult to win'

Sinisa Mihajlovic was again left to rue AC Milan's missed chances and answer more questions about his future after a 1-1 draw with Lazio on Sunday.

Lazio took the lead through Marco Parolo's goal, but the home side were level before the break through Carlos Bacca's strike.

Milan had plenty of opportunies to claim all three points after Lazio's Senad Lulic was sent off with six minutes remaining, but they could not find a winner, much to Mihajlovic's chagrin.

"It's another missed opportunity, we could've closed up two points from Fiorentina and Inter. It's the usual situation," he told Sky Sport Italia. "We dominated the second half and created many chances, but if we don't put it in the net, it becomes difficult to win.

"Compared to the last two games, at least there was more effort and determination. We tried everything to win in any way possible, but we were unable to get the victory.

"The fans applaud when they are happy and jeer when they are not. It's their right. We aren't happy with this result either."

Bacca's goal did at least end Milan's run of two games without a goal, but Mihajlovic was still left to answer questions about returning for the final year of his contract.

"The president is not much different to other club patrons. He speaks, evaluates and makes his decision at the end of the season on whether to keep a coach or not," he said.

"Could I decide to leave? That's an option too, but as I've said many times I have a contract for another year. If we both agree to go forward together, then we will. If one of the two doesn't agree then we'll go our separate ways."

Mihajlovic spent six years playing for Sunday's opponent Lazio from 1998-2004, and he wouldn't rule out a return to manage the club in the future.

"Lazio was one of the happiest spells for my playing career, undoubtedly," he said. "Would I like to return? In six, seven or 10 years, why not?"
