Sinisa Mihajlovic says AC Milan 'can beat anybody' in current form

Sinisa Mihajlovic said he believed his AC Milan "can beat anybody" if they continue the form they showed in a 4-1 win over Sampdoria on Saturday.

After changing to a 4-4-2 formation, Milan cruised to victory on the back of a M'Baye Niang brace, while Jack Bonaventura and Luiz Adriano also scored.

And after the whistle Mihajlovic said he foresaw good things on the horizon for Milan, who moved up to fifth place.

"Against Juventus we were unable to hold the ball up in attack, so we needed something tonight to turn the situation around," Mihajlovic told Mediaset Premium.

"I am happy, as we did well this evening. It is a pity that we conceded that goal late on and we could've had a fifth with Carlos Bacca. If we play like this, then we can beat anybody.

"We changed system because there are three strikers on form at the moment. With more forwards, we can pull more players into the attacking areas."

Milan have three league games remaining before the winter break, and Mihajlovic believes his players can take maximum points.

"The objective is to win all the next games leading up to the Christmas break," the coach said. "I am convinced we'll do better in the second half of the season, especially as we face the big teams on our own turf."

Mihajlovic hailed the play of Alessio Cerci, who as an attacking winger played balls in for Niang and Bacca.

"Cerci is an important player with good technique and an excellent shot. He's hard to stop when taking men on," Mihajlovic said.

"I am particularly happy that when 3-0 up we kept pushing and playing our game. There are some fixtures coming up that, on paper at least, could let us climb back up the table. With this attitude, I am convinced we'll do well."

Niang's goals were his first for Milan in Serie A since he moved to the club in 2012.

"I am very happy, as I'd been waiting a long time for a night like this," the 20-year-old said. "All the hard work paid off and I hope to continue like this. We must adapt to the system chosen by the coach and tonight we went well with the 4-4-2. I like to play as a centre-forward."
