Sinisa Mihajlovic says AC Milan made too many errors in attack against Juventus

AC Milan Sinisa Mihajlovic criticised his team for making too many errors when they had the ball in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Juventus.

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon was not called upon to make a save until deep into second-half stoppage time.

"During the game, above all the first half, we made too many mistakes in our passing and then we got the counter-attacks wrong too" Mihajlovic told Sky Sports.

"We fielded the most attacking line-up we could. Paradoxically, we did well defensively and should've done more going forward."

With the result, AC Milan saw their winless streak against Juventus stretch to seven games.

"We must try to keep working, aware there are difficulties and there's a large margin for improvement." Mihajlovic said.

"It's always difficult against Juventus in Turin, we lost, but will prepare for the next match."

Mihajlovic also said he wanted more out of striker M'Baye Niang.

"He did well defensively, but is a striker and must therefore also do more in attack. It was only his second game in four or five months, so his fitness levels still need to improve and that'll bring more sharpness too.

"I ask my wide men to sacrifice themselves for the team, so they need to be fully fit and sharp, that way they can be more effective in front of goal."

And the manager called on his players to be more aggressive on the ball.

"We have players good at taking men on, but we need more courage to push into the box. It can go wrong, but you have to try, whereas we tend to get into those situations and then pass it backwards. We should take opponents on," he said.

"It is our duty to free these attacking wide men so they can take on individual defenders one-on-one, making the most of their characteristics."
