AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli sees specialist about groin injury

Mario Balotelli has seen a specialist in Denmark in a bid to cure a groin injury which has kept him out of action for over a month.

Balotelli, who is on loan at the Rossoneri from Liverpool this season, has not featured since Sept. 27, when he played 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat a Genoa.

He has missed Milan's last six Serie A games, leading to Monday's trip to Denmark to try to get to the root of the problem.

"AC Milan announces that Mario Balotelli today had further consultations in Copenhagen with professor Per Holmich," read a statement on the Serie A club's official website.

"AC Milan and Liverpool's medical staff will soon agree on a new course of therapy."

The 25-year-old has scored just one goal in four appearances for Milan since returning to the club in the summer.

He had been hoping to convince Italy coach Antonio Conte to consider him for a place in his squad for Euro 2016, but such a prolonged injury absence has prevented him from demonstrating what he can do.

Ahead of his squad selection for October's Euro 2016 qualifying matches, Conte said Balotelli had to do more than "play two games and take one free-kick" to earn an international callup.
