Sinisa Mihajlovic confident of turning AC Milan's fortunes around

AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is "convinced" his side will bounce back from a recent dip in form.

Milan's 4-0 Serie A defeat at home to Napoli last weekend saw the pressure rise on Mihajlovic early into his first season in charge of the club.

The Rossoneri and Mihajlovic declared a top-three finish as their target for the season, but another year without European football is currently looking more likely with the side sitting 11th in the table.

The 46-year-old met with Milan's general manager Adriano Galliani for talks on Thursday, prior to a 3-0 win over Monza in a friendly match.

However, it was not a crisis meeting according to the coach, who remains confident that his team will soon turn the corner.

"We talked about football and a few other things," Mihajlovic told Mediaset. "It was a constructive talk in which we spoke and reasoned about the problems and what needs to be done. We talk on a daily basis, discussing the problems and how to resolve them.

"I'm serene and convinced that we'll emerge from this moment. I called the president [Silvio Berlusconi] on Monday because it's only right that we talk after every game. We've done that right from the start so it's nothing out of the ordinary."

The former Sampdoria coach may have found some of the solutions to his problems in Thursday's confidence-boosting friendly win against Monza.

"It was a good test to get some minutes in our legs," Mihajlovic said. "It was a good training session, we changed a few things to look at other solutions in the second half. Unfortunately we don't have the chance to work on trying many things because our national team players are away and we only have nine first-team players."

The Milan boss did get to have a closer look at Kevin-Prince Boateng in Thursday's friendly, even if he cannot count on the midfielder until January.

Boateng has been given permission by his club Schalke to train and keep himself fit with the Rossoneri, with a view to a transfer being agreed in the winter.

The 28-year-old left Milan for the Royal Blues in 2013 but was suspended by the German club towards the end of last season due to indiscipline. He no longer has a future at Schalke and favours a return to Italy, with his partner based in Milan.

Boateng played for 45 minutes of Thursday's friendly and is reported to have impressed, increasing the likelihood of Milan seeking to strike a deal with Schalke.
