AC Milan criticise alleged racism towards under-10 team

AC Milan have said it would be "simply unacceptable" if allegations of racism towards players in one of their youth teams were confirmed.

Black players in Milan's under-10 team were allegedly subjected to heckling and racist abuse during Sunday's 4-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Universal Cup at Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany.

In a tweet, agent Mino Raiola said some had been racially taunted by parents at Milan's clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the Universal Cup in Forte dei Marmi on Sunday.

In a statement on their official website, Milan said: "It has been brought to our attention ... that there were alleged incidents of racism from certain 'people' in the stands towards Milan's black players.

"We do not wish to magnify the issue, but truly hope that these reports aren't true or that it was simply a sporadic incident. If they were to be confirmed, then it would be simply unacceptable."

The organisers of the Universal Cup have posted an anti-racism message on their Facebook page since the alleged incident.

NO TO RACISM

Milan have since beaten Benfica in the semifinal of the tournament, and will take on Inter Milan in the final.

There have been several high-profile racism incidents in Italian football, notably when then Milan player Kevin-Prince Boateng led his teammates off the field in protest at racial abuse by opposing fans during a friendly match in Jan. 2013.

Milan's Kevin Constant followed Boateng's example, leaving the field during a preseason match in July that year.

And last October, Hellas Verona were given a partial stadium ban after fans racially insulted Milan's Sulley Muntari.
