AC Milan striker Keisuke Honda out 'a few weeks' with sprained ankle

AC Milan striker Keisuke Honda will miss "a few weeks" with a sprained ankle suffered in practice, coach Filippo Inzaghi said on Friday.

Honda has scored six goals in 20 Serie A starts for Milan this season but will spend the next few games on the sideline.

"Yesterday, Honda sustained a sprained ankle," Inzaghi told Milan Player. "Unfortunately we'll lose him for a few weeks. He's very important for us, and I'm very sorry to have lost him.

"That said, we're getting almost everyone [else] back, which is a very good thing. [Giacomo] Bonaventura, [Adil] Rami and [Cristian] Zapata are back, but I'd prefer not to risk the latter two as they've only had one training session.

"They're all back, except for long-term absentees like [Riccardo] Montolivo and [Stephan] El Shaarawy. It's good to have so many options."

Milan sit eighth in Serie A ahead of their game at Palermo on Saturday, one point behind Torino, and Inzaghi said his side face "10 cup finals" before the end of the campaign.

"We have to follow up the match against Cagliari," Inzaghi said in a news conference. "We've worked well over the international break. We face an important test in Palermo. We're ready for 10 cup finals.

"We want to play in the way we know we can as against Fiorentina and Cagliari. I knew that if we could get the injured players back we'd get back to playing like Milan.

"If we win tomorrow it would be a good step forward."
