Pippo Inzaghi pleased with AC Milan's effort despite defeat

Pippo Inzaghi looked on the positive side after AC Milan lost 3-1 at at Juventus on Saturday.

The under-fire Milan manager said he was encouraged by the performance, but the Serie A leaders were simply too strong.

"Apart from the result, these performances give you a lot of self-belief," Inzaghi told Sky Sports. "It was tough to play on a par with Juve, especially with so many players out of action, but we managed it for a long period of the game.

"Now we hope to change the trend of results, but with this hunger and attitude that will happen soon enough."

Despite falling behind early, AC Milan continued to push forward in search of goals, only for Juventus to score on the counter.

"We conceded the second and third goals during our best moments of the match," Inzaghi said. "We had possession and were pegging Juve back at the time.

"I was impressed by the new signings and now we need to get players back in order to have some alternatives. We never clung to that, but we do have so many injuries at the moment and it's not easy."

Jeremy Menez had to come off in the first half, but Inzaghi said it was not because of an injury.

"Jeremy had a bit of flu yesterday, told me he was ready to play, but then he had shivers and had to come off. I also had to risk Bonaventura, who had told me he didn't feel fit to play," Allegri said.

Luca Antonelli was more pessimistic than his manager despite scoring on his Milan debut.

"It was a good debut, but unfortunately we bring home no points from this game and those are what really count," he said. "We work hard and follow the coach. We'll try to win the next, because our table is starting to look ugly.

"We were on a par with Juventus for much of the game and had the chance for 2-2, but all we can do now is roll our sleeves up and get back to work."
